Sunrise and Waxwings
I expected to see fog this morning for our Ladies walk but there had been a sharp frost and the moon was still clearly visible in the sky.
Leaving the St Ives Woods and crossing to the edge of the Moor the sun could be seen breaching the horizon. Intent on photographing this I didn't notice the birds. Fellow Walker P pointed them out. A whole bush of Waxwings captured here in my sunrise shot. Of course they then flew off to the top of a nearby tree. You can see the sunlight illuminating their breasts in the extra even if the birds themselves aren't very clear.
Soon after the sun had risen it disappeared behind cloud. Fog has rolled in and out interspersed with bright spells for the rest of the day. It was felt that it was noticeably lighter at 7.30 thus morning than a week ago!
The increased numbers of Waxwings has just been mentioned on Winter watch
