Let me in!

The new, bright, shiny, refurbished William Patrick library opened in Kirkintilloch today. There I was at 10am, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to step over the threshold when a very tall, very smart young man told me to go away and come back in half an hour because the local dignitaries were enjoying a cuppa and a biscuit. I growled a bit about having to walk around in the pissing rain, carrying a tonne of books I wanted to return, while the posh nobs sipped their tetleys and rammed biscuits in their cakeholes (biscuitholes?) I also suggested that they should have ordinary punters at the opening of the library, you know, the ones that will actually be using it day-in, day-out. They might even have considered having a child or two there.

Anyway, the rain cooled me off a bit and I went back at 10.30 for a gander. I'll let them off seeing as it is rather lovely, and they serve a good cup of coffee. I'll take eldest and youngest later and see what they have to say about the place. You can rely on them to give an honest opinion. Eldest likes to deliver his verdicts in the style of a Roman Emperor (quite appropriate given our proximity to the Antonine Wall!). I'm predicting a thumbs up.
