Bicycle Cafe

The village cafe was full when I passed it this morning.  Families and friends gathered at tables eating brunch and morning coffee.  It's good to see it such a hive of activity - its not always been that way.  The bike on the wall outside always makes me smile.  I think it dates from the time when the cafe was a French style bistro.  I rather like the bike but wouldn't fancy trying to ride it with that small front wheel (which I assume has replaced the original wheel which would have stuck out awkwardly once it was mounted on the wall).

Post-script: thanks to a fellow blipper, I have found out this is a 'Butcher Boy' bike - it looks like a " The  B U T C H E R   B O Y " 1957 - 63 RALEIGH work bike.  Apparently these delivery boy bikes were in their heyday post WW2 when motor vehicles were still in limited supply but by the 1950s they were in decline (I assume as motor cars and vans became cheaper and  more affordable).  You find out a little bit more here
