09:46 Ramsbottom to Rawtenstall

SATURDAY

I was up at the crack of dawn and over the hills to Ramsbottom to see 09:46 head up the line to Rawtenstall.

I also managed a visit to the Chocolate Cafe before heading back over the border to the safety of Yorkshire.

The 44871 is an ex-LMS locomotive built in 1945 and is certified for main line running  (see extra).
