Old Stone Butter Church

A cloudy day, a few raindrops, after supper I drove in search of my Blipfoto. Eventually I returned to my favorite place, the Cowichan River, the estuary and the Indian Reservation. While I walked the trails along the river, I could hear natives singing and drumming (YouTube video) in the Clem Clem long house. I took photos along the river, but choose the church for my Blipfoto.

In 1870 Father Rondeauld with native helpers built the stone church on Comiaken Hill. It is known as the Butter church as he paid his helpers with funds raised from the sale of butter from his dairy herd on the mission's farm.
