YES! Cookies for a Cause

The second in an indefinite series on positive activities and actions taking place in my corner of the USA, as DJT and his minions take charge of our country's government...

ACME Farms + Kitchen is a local company that provides fresh, local food paired with recipes that make it easy to prepare healthful, delicious meals.  

They recently sent out an email about a unique fundraiser, taking a stand with other local Bellingham businesses to have a bake sale to support Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood (MBPP), which provides affordable reproductive health care services in our county and two others nearby.  

Fourteen local chefs and bakers in Bellingham and Whatcom County donated special baked goods for Bham Cookie Grab boxes. ("Cookie Grab"  is a play on a recently-publicized recorded lewd comment made by Donald Trump about his actions with women in 2005.)

The bake sale's goal was to sell 50 cookie boxes and donate all of the proceeds — $2000 — to MBPP. However, the response was so enthusiastic that 75 Bham Cookie Boxes were snapped up in less than 24 hours, and Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood will receive $3000! I picked up our Bham Cookie Grab box today and we’ve already enjoyed several of the delicious treats.

I’ll be marching with many others who support Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood on Saturday, and I’m making a monthly pledge as well. Access to reproductive health care — and health care in general — is already under threat by the new administration sworn in today.
