Fed up with rain
Today was the accommodation equivalent of getting a free upgrade for the first leg of a flight only to be put back into economy for the second leg. I started the day in the luxury of the Hilton (see yesterday’s blip) and finished it in a hostel dormitory!
I drove from Queenstown to Te Anau. It was clear when I left but after 15 minutes driving it started raining and it rained for the whole drive. The first part goes along the side of a large lake with the road winding along the hillside next to the lake. I’ve driven up the side of Loch Lomond in the rain and this road felt very similar! I arrived in Te Anau in the afternoon and checked into the hostel. The lounge was really cold and all the people in it were staring at screens and not talking so I went to the pub where it was warmer, the wifi worked and the staff were friendly!
My blip is the lake at Te Anau. It brightened up in the evening and there was almost some sun! This is the wettest region of New Zealand so I shouldn’t complain too much about the weather, I did choose to visit!
