In our garden, a result of the winter wild bird food we put out.
The area we live in "The Allgaeu" is known today as the green Allgaeu because of it's green pastures, cows, milk and above all cheese. It has the most cows/person ratio in all Germany!
Up until the mid 19th C the area was known as the "blue Allgaeu" as it was a large hemp producing area. A certain Carl Hirnbein could see that hemp production was set to die as a result of the importation of cotton and started the whole cow/milk/cheese revolution as well as seeing the opportunities for tourism with the coming of the railway. A far sighted man.
Needless to say growing hemp/cannabis is forbidden in Germany so please keep this to yourself!
