Worth the wait
In an effort to save money, the Islands Council has cut the mobile library budget and instead of coming once a month, it now visits us once every two months.
But today it is a new, shiny, all singing, all dancing library van, which goes down to almost road level to help folk get on and off, and instead of Betty passing the little step out there are now built in steps, with a hand rail along side. Very much safer, especially in a gale, which there frequently is as she has to park right on the water's edge!
i don't know how much longer the council will consider it worth coming down here as there are now only five of us who use it, two in their 80s, two in their 70s and me. We do borrow an awful lot of books though!
