Pugmill

A cycle ride this morning; across to Coxs Bay. I enjoyed the recently widened paths through Grey Lynn Park, Hakanoa Reserve and Coxs Bay Park. Makes sharing with pedestrians much safer for all. 

Late this morning we all went by ferry across the harbour to Devonport, where we had lunch in a wonderful Turkish restaurant. Everyone, including the children, enjoyed their meal. Afterwards we went to the Rembrandt Remastered exhibition in a small art gallery. Really very interesting.

As we left, there was a clothes rack with appropriate cloaks, gowns and hats and the three boys all donned something and pleased parents took many photos; I left it to them and will get my personal favourites from them (I hope!). 

After a relatively short stop at a playground which is apparently a favourite of the Auckland grandboys, we returned across the harbour to the Auckland Ferry Terminal. Going past the container terminal I saw this ocean going tug (the Pacific Way) pulling a barge called "Pugmill". A pugmill is a machine in which clay and other materials are mixed into a plastic state for the trituration of ore. The barge is a movable sediment stabiisation plant, and is presumable involved in one of the owners' projects; either dredging the Westhaven Basin, or stabilisation around the harbour.
