I heard this female Pileated Woodpecker's call long before I saw her. So it gave me plenty of time to grab my camera and make sure my long lens was attached. Once she landed, I very quietly slid the door screen open just enough to get the shot. The Pileateds are a bit more timid this time of the year, I guess because the leaves are down and they feel more exposed.
 I had filled the BarkButter feeders earlier this morning so she was able to snack to her little Woodie's heart content. Such a joy to see these big beautiful birds :)
