Lime against limewash (maybe)

I waited with growing dread for Teresa May's Brexit speech. She did not disappoint.

A delusional throwback to a long since gone imperial past when Great Britain trod roughshod over small nations and desperate peoples.

A desperate attempt to claim some internationalist relevance while slamming the door on post-colonial Britain's salvation from its own decline and myopia.

A throwing in of the towel when there were better battles to be fought over the questioning of the absolute rights of free movement and the impediments to it elsewhere and here, in this so-called 'precious union'.
