Sky full

l turned off the main road on the way home from the market this morning because the sky was suddenly full of birds.. l had to find out what they were.  Something had disturbed them from a field and they landed once more in vast groups.. l think these were fieldfares or redstart but sadly with only my iphone in the car l was unable to make out exactly what they were.  There were also a huge flock of lapwing but amongst them l think l spotted some golden plover which was very excting as l have never before seen them.  l have heard reports of large flocks of them being spotted in the area last week.... fabulous.  There were also a scattering of gulls who would periodically fly over the groups of other birds in pairs and when one bird took fright they would chase it at high speed until it wore them out.  l wonder what that is all about.. would they actually try to catch and kill a bird of thrush size?...if anyone here reads this and knows l would be fascinated to know.  

l must head to Otmoor at some point to see the starling murmurations there
