A bird I had to search for online ...... seems I saw a Common Hoopoe ....
More big smiles.

I thought, at first glance, it was some type of woodpecker but when I saw the beak properly I knew it wasn't.

In the extras you can see a late afternoon view of the area and also a Monitor Lizard peeping out of a hole in a mound of mud............

What a fabulous place Sri Lanka is.   The people are so friendly, the food is just fabulous if you like it spicy - you can even have various curries and rices for breakfast (in case you're wondering, I have) and my hotels have been really good.  I haven't seen a single chip (french fry) - hooray!!!!
The weather is beautiful and not yet too humid.
