The muddiest walk of the year
I went on the Hexham Ramblers walk today, led by my good friend, D. We started at Brocolitia and then completed 12 miles north of the Wall. Not surprisingly we met no walkers once we left Hadrian's Wall Trail. The country is wild, open and very muddy. It has rained every day for weeks now, and the boggy bits were very very boggy.
It was a great walk. So far round we met this young farmer with his daughter on the quad bike and with an entourage of enthusiastic sheep dogs. What fun. Wish I could show you the views, but this image won for sheer energy.
Back home for a hot bath after dealing with the muddiest gaiters and the muddiest boots this season (and that is saying something!)
