New statue unveiled today at the original Cavern entrance. Seems to have divided opinion, not because of the quality of the work (which I reckon isn't bad) but because of her Tory sympathies, the fact she left Liverpool as soon as she could and hardly ever came back and her general tackiness. I think there are others more deserving of a statue (Kitty Wilkinson, Eleanor Rathbone) but they wouldn't have the same draw. I guess we just have to suck it up. It'll be interesting to see how this weathers over time.
