Lapwings

During a visit to Rietvlei Nature Reserve today, came across this flock of Crowned Lapwings (Vanellus coronatus).
Estimated at least 60 birds both in front of and behind the car. They were quite content just to move to the side of the road to let us through.
They normally aggregate in small flocks, so was surprised by the numbers.
