Friday 13th!!
The day i went in for Surgery, we arrived at SCG hospital in Perth my appointment was for 9am, on arrival the paper work seemed endless, but i was'nt going to complain at all, better they checked and re-checked they had the right person for the right procedure, wrist and ankle bands were attached with the right numbers the right person the right date of birth etc.
Then the long-long wait, finally after lunch the theatre nurse came checked and re-checked the wrist and ankle bands then asked what procedure i was having done? ( I hope they hadn't forgotten? they knew they were checking i hadn't forgotten :-)) i was taken then by the hospital orderly at 2pm to the theatre, the day had slipped by with all the comings and going of a busy hospital.
The corridor was endless as i was whisked along in the bed i had been laying in, more doors open and closed then we went up in the lift to the 7th floor, more paper work to be checked by the Nurse then someone else came and checked her.
More doors opened then closed, finally this was the room with the brightest and largest lights i have ever seen except on a stage! i then wriggled onto the surgical bed, i had chosen to have a local anaesthetic and not a general although i was thinking by this stage had i made the right choice? the Surgeon recommended that i have the local as the recovery time is shorter and i get to go home fairly quickly afterwards, mmmm he was'nt the one sitting where I'm sitting thought i, ( if my 13 year old Grandson can have 7 teeth pulled and be the bravest boy i know then surely i can be brave for the next 40 minutes)
I was! after the first numbing injection (which the nurses said was the worst part) i was doing pretty ok ! "there" says one Nurse one lesion removed one to go! I didn't feel a thing!
All done!!
back onto the recovery ward (which i had nothing really to recover from, after more paper work was checked I was whisked out of there pretty sharp, into another room (still on the same bed) the Nurse then phoned Glyn to pick me up, he must have been around the corner as he was there before they hung the phone up! what a lovely sight after so many strange faces one i know and trust instantly.
Im now recovering at home, the stitches are a bit of a nuisance especially being inside my lower lip, but I'm not complaining, alls well that ended well, a follow up in 10 days time and boy am i glad thats all done!
a happy and safe weekend everyone!
