Mother's milk .....

A cold but dry winter day, no complaints with that. Thursday night's big daft bull calf still not sucking the cow so it was another time consuming job to milk out the cow and bottle feed it again. Managed to glug a couple of litres down it's throat so hopefully it will take the hint soon. Fighting nature really because in the wild either the cow would have been eaten as she wouldn't be able to run away with her big dropped udder or the calf would have died by now if it wouldn't suck.
On a brighter note the heifer I had to calve on Friday morning was standing letting her calf suck within half an hour - nature at it's best .
