This Brush Turkey was working on his nest-mound right next to the walkway alongside the Brisbane River. Males build the nests and tend the eggs of several concubines. That sounds like a civilised deal to me.

The extra pic is a Channel-billed cuckoo which I heard before finally spotting it, high up in the tallest tree on South Bank, Brisbane. Their calls are famously LOUD.
