Welcome home
Although our flight back wasn't particularly early, we had decided to play it safe by staying at the airport on Thursday night. A wise decision. According to Google Maps the journey to Manchester takes two hours. It took us just over three, much of which was spent as part of a slow-moving river of metal on the M62 over the Pennines, where snow was just starting to settle. Still, no visit to Britain would be complete without a traffic jam.
This morning we got to the airport at about 9:30 for an 11:15 flight, and after queueing for nearly an hour in security made it to the gate just as it was opening. How tiresome air travel is. Between these two, we had a surprisingly good meal in the hotel (not fantastic, just good by airport hotel standards) and a good night's sleep.
In Carcassonne the sky was blue but the wind was mighty, delivering a typically bouncy landing that evoked shrieks from some passengers. And then back home to be greeted by an ecstatic cat. We miss you too, Mystère!
