Rocking and Rolling in Stow
Wow what a treat today! I went on the hunt /twitch for the now infamous Blue Rock Thrush which has flown into Stow-on-the-Wold. A bird so rare it hasn't been seen in the UK for a decade and this is it's 3rd ever sighting in the UK ever!
People are arriving from all over the British Isles just for a glimpse of this cobalt blue thrush-like bird which is in a housing -estate of all places. Not surprising really though as it is a sun lover and frequently seen on the roof tiles (see Extra) which are akin to it's usual habitat of cliffs and mountains. The residents of the Close have now raised nearly £2000 for the local hospice with donations from grateful birders, so everyone's a winner. I just love the white tips to it's breast feathers which look so attractive when it plumped itself up against the cold.
Tilly stayed at home today with her pills lotions and potions after her visit to the eye vet specialist yesterday, preferring to keep warm. No flies on her as it was biting cold standing around waiting for it to rock up!
