In Changing Light
Another windy spell through the night. Wind NW/NNW/N to 41 mph with gusts to 60 mph. The today a high of 5.2C with bright spells and light snow/sleet showers falling from huge dark clouds. Wind NNW/N to 33 mph with gusts to 48 mph.
Another night with Maeve the Deerhound restless due to the wind noise in our bedroom chimney. I think the light was on two or three times through the small hours as we tried to persuade her to lie down rather than stand staring into space. I have forgotten exactly when I finally gave up and got up and took her out for a walk. Sometime before 5am. When we came back I let Maeve into the living room and I went back to bed. Apothecary7 tells me Maeve was fast asleep when she peeped round the living room door just after 7am. We will have to try to reduce the chimney noise somehow.
The fish shop had more stock than last Friday when I went along just before 10am. Salmon quiche for Apothecary7 and a Salmon fish cake and half a Salmon Scotch egg for me.
Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. The Band from Rockall (eponymous) on the Clip. We went round to the harbour in a good bright spell then along past the ferry terminal to the park. There was a ship I hadn't seen before at the outer side of the new quay where the linkspan is. Ronja Supporter which I found on AIS as a cargo ship although it doesn't look much like the cargo ships we normally see in the harbour here. I have a shot of the ship in bright light which looks not unlike a summer's day but I like this one with the changing light better since it shows something of the day. At the end of the park we turned and came back along the street side then came home through town past the town hall and the bookshop (open).
Once Maeve was back home and settled I went for another walk. Deacon Blue (The Singles) on the Clip. I went out Low Askomill to the old shipyard. Radiant Morn came into the loch past the shipyard as I was walking out. When I got to the shipyard the next huge dark cloud was coming over town, so I waited for a while out at the top of the shipyard rather than walk back directly into the wind. The shower didn't last long and was mainly light snow or sleet.
On the way back I walked round the esplanade to the harbour and came back home through town.
Afternoon music ... Coldplay, Parachutes. Fleetwood Mac, Tango In The Night.
It is noticeably lighter towards the evening I have definitely noticed a change.
