Ganesh rides his rat cart

All Hindu Gods have vehicles - i.e. an animal they  can ride, however unbelievable. Shiva has a bull but Ganesh is always depicted with his rat and here I have given him two.  It was my last day in Molela with the lovely Jamnalal's family.  It has been such fun and a great experience too and once my tiles are fired I shall be back to collect them.  Bhagwati Devi made delicious food each day and kept me supplied with chai too and both sons gave me help when my handling of the clay became difficult.  The bus to Udaipur had over a hundred in it when I got on and future passengers had to go on top but we still took on sacks of onions and wheat and huge pots and pans.  Every time anyone got off it was a fearful struggle to get through as people just didn't seem to want to get off to make it more easy.  My bag had to go on the roof and I was hauled forward by the laid back smiling driver to sit in the seat beside him and I took a 5 year old girl on my lap who promptly went to sleep so I didn't feel so bad - was probably the oldest on the bus anyway.  People look very old here but it is the sun and very hard labour that takes its. toll. In the extra you can see a bad picture of me and Jamnalal in a little farewell ceremony and another of him and his family - taken with the sun filtering through
