Kärnan
Today we approved the testing for Russia which means we get to go to a pilot in St Petersburg in February. Not so much time to do sightseeing but we are hoping that the Russians will book us a city tour at least. I have heard that it is a beautiful city.
I did not have many blip opportunities today so this is a bit of an EB. It's the steps leading to the Kärnan tower which is a medieval tower that is the only part remaining of a larger Danish fortress which controlled the entranceway between Kattegat and Oresund. It was surrendered to Sweden along with the rest of Skåneland as part of the treaty of Roskilde in 1658. It was retaken by the Danes in 1676 and then returned to Swedish control in 1679. The fortress was eventually demolished, fearing that it was too exposed to a sneak attack from Denmark. The tower was saved for posterity and serves as a landmark for shipping through Oresund.
