012 — Light and Shadow

Today's assignment from the book "Vision 365: Mastering the Everyday Practice of Seeing": photograph light and shadows.


Heading back home after calling in to Birmingham to pick up my iPhone (battery replacement for free under their Quality Assurance scheme.


Second time at New Street Station today, this time the wonderful shadowy alcoves and corners of the older parts of the station were deep in shadow, unreachable by the harsh station lights that were attempting to push back the dark and simultaneously illuminating the flakes of snow as they fell.


Converted to B&W, bit of a tinker with the highlights, shadows and blacks in Lightroom, boosted the clarity and added a vignette. Hope you enjoy.
