Just nest building.

This wood pigeon was strutting around underneath our silver birch tree, in the front garden, picking up twigs for a nest. If it got one that was not suitable for any reason it would throw it aside, until it got one that had a fork in it. Tried to throw it away but it twisted and lodged itself around it's neck. No danger to the bird but it was comical watching it walk around with this fork of thin twigs around it's neck like a macabre necklace.
By the time I got my camera I only got one shot of it with the enrapturing twig but it was so out of focus as to be useless, this is the second shot just after it had managed to free itself.
The garden birds do give a lot of joy and amusement and these two pigeons have been nesting in our garden for years now, some years there's been two pairs.
Blackbirds and Sparrows galore and a couple of Robins around too. Haven't seen the nesting wrens for over a year now though, I'd like to see them back in the garden.
