Writing Is Resistance

I took the Year Four class on a trip to the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake Museum today. A great day at with some lovely feedback from the parents who assisted me with supervision. As always, though, the exhibits stirred some turbulent thoughts. I think Terry Pratchett sums up my thoughts most precisely and succinctly.

"I got quite annoyed after the Haiti earthquake. A baby was taken from the wreckage and people said it was a miracle. It would have been a miracle had God stopped the earthquake. More wonderful was that a load of evolved monkeys got together to save the life of a child that wasn't theirs."  (Terry Pratchett)
