Memory

This is a 1 GiB DDR2 SODIMM that I removed from a laptop I was given to be replaced with a faster 2 GiB module. The sticker rather obscures the chips, but I've left it on or I'd forget what it is. It is amazing to think that this is more RAM than the first serious computer I used had as disk space, and indeed as a result of the upgrade to this laptop the laptop now has more RAM than disk space than the first computer I bought (and still have in the loft). While Moore's law isn't a law and is often misquoted, it is true that progress in silicon miniaturisation is still ongoing and amazingly impressive....
