The Anchor

Another boarded-up pub; this is The Anchor at Yalding. There are notifications of planning applications to knock down at least some of the buildings but the pub website states that they are shut for refurbishment. In the image the main pub is out of shot to the left and the two-storey building is a hotel. I didn't make any notes on the application but I understand that the hotel, possibly the thatched building and also some outbuildings are to be demolished and houses built. The pub had a poor reputation but recently had changed hands and folk were saying that it was much better - I hope that it reopens as it's a canalside amenity and the Medway isn't blessed with many such places.
