Hungry

It rained almost all night long, and this morning most of our snow cover had melted away.  We've gone from very cold weather to much milder temperatures today, with a predicted high of almost 50F. 

As I was on the phone this morning, I was gazing out the window when a pair of Northern Flickers suddenly appeared on the lawn.  They had a bit of a skirmish with one another, and one flew away while the other commenced to peck furiously at the grass -- no doubt in search of breakfast.  From the looks of his rather stout silhouette, I'd say he's managed to keep himself well fed despite the cold, snowy conditions we've been experiencing!
