Where's the matches?
Another Port Appin Blip today.
Imagine an early Winter morning, around 5am. There weather is dry but there's a freezing wind. The first bus out of the yard, a spare bus for short trips is a ferry special to take the CalMac staff down to Kennacraig and although it fires up on the button the darned thing won't budge. They drag out the old AEC breakdown truck and illuminate the scene from the spotlights on the gantry. Two cold, aggravated staff lie on the freezing cobbles and fiddle under the bonnet of the old 'spare' Bedford OWB to find out what's seized up. Maybe a brake drum frozen on solid? From the freezing numbness of their fingers that seems the most likely cause and drastic measures are called for. "Where's the matches and the oily rag?"
