Robbery on the high skies

So today was my first day in Hong Kong and what an adventure it was! I witnessed a robbery, talked to strangers and tried something without knowing what it was.

Part one: Witnessed a robbery
After landing we were asked to stay in our seats without an explanation. A few minutes later 5 police offices boarded the plane. For a while we didn't understand what was going on as a man was led to the front of the plane and a women a few rows behind me was dramatically explained something. Then someone translated: there had been a theft. At this point the people in the first rows were allowed to leave and as I stood up to retrieve my backpack a man in the other aisle started shouting that he too had been robbed. So naturally I cheeked everything and luckily was missing nothing. But what a way to be welcomed to Hong Kong!

Part two: Talking to strangers
While waiting in line to buy a train ticked the girl in front of me had a big bag and looked about the right age to be doing a gap year or exchange semester. So naturally I struck up a conversation. Now as my family knows, this does not come naturally to me. So be duly impressed, but it gets better. After arriving safe and sound at the hostel I sat around in the lounge talking to other people. So by the end of the day I had meet 6 new people!

Part 3: Tried something
After meeting up with my buddy FZ from PolyU and another exchange student PJ I meet in the hostel FZ showed us around the campus area. While we were wandering he had us try this pancake like sweet that had peanut butter and other stuff on it. The vender asked us if we liked it and we said yes. He then said one more one more and one more turned in to two more. All in all it was an eventful and interesting first day! I even made some friends ( see AM, I do have friends
