Blue Mountain

This is Interstate Highway 40.  It is the third longest highway in America...and it travels straight through Albuquerque.  In the 1950's, the country believed that it would be attacked from the coasts...so an Interstate system was built to move people quickly more toward the middle of the country.  The result of these Interstate Highways was a huge flow of food and materials and products to all parts of the country, and the economy grew.  Now the Interstate's are all very busy with traffic and trucks.

This is a part of Interstate 40 that parallels Route 66...a somewhat famous highway from Hollywood movies.  Looking East...in the distance we see Albuquerque and the Sandia-Manzano mountain range.  I was happy to get back into my car as the traffic was traveling at over 70 mph!
