Michelangelo....sketch in chalk

This photo shows a sketch I made of the bronze portrait of Michelangelo by his friend and protege Daniello da Volterra, using Michelangelo's death mask.

I came down to Oxford this summer to work on a study of this bronze, and am making a copy of it. The kind people at the Ashmolean Museum took it off display so I could study it properly. I will bring the work back home to Edinburgh to finish it.
