The modern way we learn.
I was in a newly built 6th form college attending a standardisation meeting this morning. It was a good venue for delivering what I was there for but I was struck, as soon as I entered, by the deathly quiet and lack of evidence of 'life'. There were no notice boards advertising meetings, activities or protests, no art (or graffiti), no chatter, no nothing. It seemed all rather anaemic and not at all what a school/college should feel like.
Will Self was on radio 4 yesterday talking about this very thing. My cynical ear was amused by what he had to say. The link is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b086th59
