Lunna House

My travels today took me past Lunna House. The house has a history all to itself dating back to 1660 but famously during the Second World War it was the initial HQ for the Shetland Bus operations which in the words of Wikipedia "was a clandestine operation to transfer men and materials between Shetland and Nazi-occupied Norway The sheltered harbour at Lunna, away from populated areas, was considered ideal. Lieutenant David Howarth set up his headquarters at Lunna House, which was used as accommodation for the boat crews."  Two books I would recommend to anyone interested in the Shetland Bus operation is one by David Howarth simply entitled The Shetland Bus and one call None But The Brave by Frithjof Saelen
