Buying for the Luncheon Club

The village shop in Giarole welcomed us warmly - not surprisingly as we must have at least doubled their takings for the week as 30 of us went in every day to buy food for our lunches The lady behind the meat and cheese counter somehow got the idea that I could speak more Italian than I can. Perhaps it's because I speak the few words I know with confidence, or maybe because my accent is reasonable. Io no sé! Anyway, she entrusted me with a present to share with everyone else at the end of the week - a bag of amaretti biscuits and two local salami. She told some of the others that there was a present for them, which she had given to "Madam"!!!
