Warm Welcome

This is not my favourite photo of the day - we walked along Faro beach in the sunshine this morning - the sea! the boats! And then chose to go non-toll roads home, which means a 4hr drive; picked up two hitchhikers from Montreal on the way; they said Leonard Cohen is known as the voice of their city.

Then we got back to a freezing house - something about this house that holds the cold, so that was a bit miserable, but then decided to go see what our neighbours were doing. They were sitting round the fire that's been going since Christmas in our small square, and immediately welcomed us, asking after the family, and offering tea/coffee (in the pots by the fire) and cake that Dona Beatriz (with the apron) had made - what kind folk...

Really made the difference.
