Avocado Boat

Did any of you ever try to grow a plant from an avocado pit? I remember doing it in college, with great success.

I've tried to do it over the past few years, to no avail. I saw this contraption sold online and it's supposed to insure sprouting success.

So, hope my little avocado pit sets sail!
