Dreich Day on old Familiar Roads

A dreich day, so I decide to go for a cycle around West Lothian. These are roads on which I used to take the Spokes Ride on, but no longer do as the places no longer serve lunch.

I head out through Colinton and Baberton Mains Farm to Heriot Watt Uni. Then on to the hell of the Long Dalmahoy Road in to the westerly breeze. Its down through Kirknewton to East Calder. Remembering my ride from the Big Belter, I cycle down Clifton Road to Newbridge. Its then west along the A89 for a short while.

I turn on to a minor road. Here I take my blip photo above, and a nice photo of the railway viaduct, extra. I head west to Pumpherston, in to the wind, but its sheltered. Its south to Mid Calder, back to East Calder and up Leyden Rd. Its a storming ride back to Balerno and Colinton and home. Not too bad in the grey dreich weather. I was nice to cycle on roads I haven't ridden on for a while.

I had lunch. Ah, nothing for the New Year Day buffet tea, so its up to Asda. I think its successful and go home. Even get home in time for coffee.

During coffee, I check my total cycling for the year, its 11,698km. My weekly target is quite close as well. I decide go for a short 6km bike ride in the dark. That means I have met my 160km weekly target and broke the 11,700km for the year.
