Cardinals. Mostly.
We had a little bit of snow this afternoon. There may well be more overnight - but really this afternoon it was just flurries. Well. The birds were just like the humans that totally freak out when it snows. There they were, metaphorically queueing up at the grocery store to strip the shelves of milk and bread. When I took this photo I counted - and I am not exaggerating in the slightest - eleven male Cardinals in the tree that holds the feeders, and on the ground and on the rocks where I put seed out. And - of course - their mates were there too. The small birds with them are American Goldfinches.
I'm trying to add an extra that has a female Red-bellied Woodpecker in the middle of the scrum... Still trying... it gets to 35%, starts over, gets to 25% and grinds to a halt. Patience wearing very very thin. Now at 26% and stuck again. Fifth try - stuck at 30%. Sixth try: Up to 82%... 91%... 100%! Whoo hoo!!!!!!
