Murmuration

Frequently when I go to events I deliberately don't take a camera with me, because I don't want the distraction - I want to be there, living in the moment. But on two occasions when I have gone to a great deal of trouble to photograph something, I've ended up putting the camera down and just watching. The first was while photographing the Aurora Borealis in Iceland. The second was this week when I finally got around to visiting the local startling murmuration. If you've never been to a starling murmuration, it's a real bucket list experience. Go now. This is a slightly enhanced photo, a composite of two images - one for the birds and a shorter exposure at higher magnification for the moon.
