Thursday: Marking Territory

This photo is far from perfect (apologies to K. who took it.......), but I just wanted to post it as I find it very amusing.

We have had an unusually harsh winter here. We think that's the reason why two raccoons, who are normally nocturnal, climbed over the fence yesterday in broad daylight. Apparently, it was very cute as they were helping each other along the way. They then had a bit of a wander around the garden.

This morning, Fred went sniffing around where the raccoons had been. Shortly after this photo was taken he did a big territorial man pee on the shrub. Note how his feet are placed exactly in the raccoon footprints. Bless him, he doesn't like to get cold paws.

Finished 'The Painted Veil' by W. Somerset Maugham. It was actually pretty touching and quite ahead of its time. A novel filled with poignant regret.
