A few blips back I posted a baby bird. This is the inside of it's home. The parents had multiple clutches last year and 3 this year! They could've had another one, since they can have up to 4 per season, but upon inspection of the baby bird before it fledged, I noticed bird mites. The bird and bird house was infested! I hate tiny bugs!! I took the house apart (after the last baby flew off) to take a peek inside. What an amazing job the parents did!! The nest was packed solid! I felt bad discarding their hard work, but due to the bird mites I had to. I was so freaked out b/c there was so many, and right next to my back door, that I had a bug man come and check out my house to make sure there wasn't any uninvited pests!! So far none have been spotted. Which is a bit of luck, since according to him, there have been triple the calls for these tiny pests recently and no one seems to know why. He said they multiply so fast that if you have them, they're hard to get rid of so they have to use a spray just for bird mites since nothing else seems to work! Poor birds. I would think that's uncomfortable, but I guess that's the way for wild life in nature.
Hope I didn't give anyone the itchies by talking about this.
The nest is super cool though don't you think?!
