Lybster Harbour

Well, we headed north today, as the weather didn't look too promising around Inverness. We passed by Dornoch and on through Golspie to Brora and then Helmsdale. All these villages are coastal villages on the main A9 trunk road north of Inverness and are all in the County of Sutherland. We had lunch and met old acquaintences for a chat and then headed into Caithness and on to Lybster. Lybster has a particular interest to me, as back in the year 2000, I set up cameras on the lighthouse and the new visitor centre as part of a new heritage centre to celebrate The Silver Darlings (Herring). The centre is called Waterlines and explains all about the herring industry in the early 20th century.
By abseiling down the cliffs to the right of the picture I set up a camera on aFulmers Nest. All these cameras were wired back to the new centre just behind the headland at the back of the harbour to the right.
We met up with the same people who have been there since it opened and had a good blether.
But the added bonus came from the little blue boat moored between the white and red boats at the front of picture. This is a Lobster boat, so without further ado I bought 4 Lobsters to take home. The rest of his catch is going to Portugal on Sunday. I thought it was a great as I got them for £16.00
A very enjoyable day and visit to Lybster Harbour.
