Schedule and results

I stayed in Helsinki for some time. First I went to the National Library of Finland. I have never been there and now that the building has been renovated I thought it's time to see library's beautiful architecture also from inside. Yes, it was stunning!

The National Library of Finland is the oldest and largest scholarly library in Finland. It is responsible for the collection, description, preservation and accessibility of Finland’s printed national heritage and the unique collections under its care. The main building was designed by the German architect Carl Ludwig Engel. Engel’s chief work was the reconstruction of Helsinki, particularly of the Senate Square area. The library building was completed in 1840 and taken into use in 1845. The main building is a part of the Library Block comprising the Rotunda (1906) and Fabiania (1844–1897) buildings and the underground collection facilities known as Porthania (1956) and the Cave (2000).

I also went to Laura Ashley to see if I could find new wallpapers to our corridor in upstairs. I had browsed their web catalog and spotted one particularly interesting model. And guess what! Just those wallpaper rolls were added to the sale selection just one hour before I entered the shop! What a fortune! I just had make a deal.

On Monday all museums and galleries are closed in Helsinki except one - Amos Anderson Art Museum. I went there to see Zoltán Popovits’s works, which were very interesting.
