Yet another family dinner!

This one is a New Year's Day tradition dating from my grandmother's time and carried on in a much smaller way nowadays. When I was in my teens there were 25 around the table and we youngsters sat on planks used in my grandpa's painting and decorating business. When we were small my grandma made a clootie dumpling for dessert and silver sixpennies were hidden in it for us to find. Afterwards there were loads of games. Nowadays it's Pavlova and Tiramisu, there's just 10 of us left in the Glasgow area and dinner is not always on 1st January. Afterwards, even although there are no children we will have a few games, a lot of silliness and a great deal of cheating!
