Our Golden Postbox

The olympics finished some while ago and is slipping into memories of a fabulous time in our history. We finally got our Golden Postbox a few days ago. Nick Skelton was born in Bedworth and lived and trained his horses there until moving to Alcester. He has Golden Postboxes in both places. In one way his success isn't on the same scale as many others. But, as the oldest Gold medal winner, his is still well deserved.

Not only have I got a picture of the postbox, but the guy behind it turned up just a minute before I got there this morning. He turned out to be the guy who painted it and he had returned to repair damage to the paint. This he was complaining about simply because it is very soft and gets damaged very easily. Some of the damage is deliberate and causing him, not surprisingly, immense frustration. He very kindly moved his van so that I could get a clear shot of the box, but, after a few minutes chatting, I decided to include him as added interest.

The day actually got better. After 4 days of persistent chasing, IT finally searched out the location of the encryption key file for the seemingly defunct HD from my laptop. The IT guy was now not only sure he can recover my data (a source of great relief), but also get the thing working again without having to reload Windows. That means I don't have to reload all my drivers and applications again! If that's the case, that's a result as that alone would have taken 2 days to arrange and get done.

I'm now off to buy a lottery ticket before my luck runs out.

Have a great weekend and happy blipping!
