Tribute to Vermeer

The lighting reminded me of the quality of light in a Vermeer painting. Difficult to get any photograph in this situation, but this lone drinker was motionless and an interesting enough character so here it is. The location is 'The White Horse' or 'Nellie's' in Beverley. What better place to be on a dismal New Year's day, in front of a roaring fire, with overhead gas lighting, terrific ambience, good company and with a lift home afterwards with a non drinking driver.
